Why Hike?

Hiking is a great way to see the world. It's also an effective medicine for reducing stress, high blood pressure, and an over-all negative attitude toward life. Hiking also helps heal many other human maladies, like heart attacks. Personally, I hike for many of the same reasons I kayak. Here are my top ten reasons for hiking:

1.  It helps me discover who I am
2.  It builds strong, meaningful friendships
3.  It gets me out of the city
4.  It keeps me in good physical condition
5.  I've discovered a strong spiritual component
6.  It's cheap - sometimes it's free
7.  I'm learning how to use my camera
8.  It gives me fodder for exciting stories
9.  I enjoy smelling like a campfire
10. I meet new people from all over the world

I hope your experience is at least as rewarding, if not more-so, than mine.
